1. About LabourLink
LabourLink is an online platform that helps customers find and book independent local tradespeople for small jobs. By using LabourLink you agree to these terms. LabourLink is operated as a sole trader business in the United Kingdom.

2. LabourLink's Role
LabourLink is an online platform that helps customers find and book independent tradespeople. The contract for work is directly between the customer and the tradesperson. LabourLink does not carry out, supervise, inspect, or guarantee the work. Nothing on this platform should be read as LabourLink acting as contractor, employer, or manager of any work.

3. Secure Escrow Protection
LabourLink charges a Secure Escrow Protection on all payments made through the platform. This fee is 10% of the tradesperson's quote, with a minimum of £4.99 and a maximum of £50. The tradesperson receives their full quoted amount. The Secure Escrow Protection is shown clearly before payment. Payments are processed securely through Stripe.

3a. Payment Holding (Escrow)
When a customer pays through LabourLink, funds are held securely by Stripe and are not immediately released to the tradesperson. Funds are released to the tradesperson when: (a) the customer clicks "Mark Job as Complete" in the chat, or (b) 7 days have passed since payment without the customer raising a dispute. Customers should only mark a job as complete once they are satisfied with the work. Once marked complete, payment release cannot be reversed. 4. Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellations and refunds are handled in accordance with applicable UK consumer law, Stripe's payment process, and the status of the booking. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

5. Off-Platform Transactions
Tradespeople and customers must not deliberately use LabourLink to make an introduction and then complete the same booking outside the platform to avoid the Secure Escrow Protection. Breach of this rule may result in suspension or removal from the platform.

6. Tradesperson Obligations
Tradespeople are responsible for ensuring they hold any qualifications, licences, registrations, permissions and insurance required for the services they offer. LabourLink may request evidence of selected documents, but unless we expressly state otherwise, customers should not assume LabourLink has independently verified all information. False or misleading information may result in suspension or removal from the platform.

7. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to the above, LabourLink is not responsible for the acts, omissions, workmanship, conduct, advice, or failure of independent tradespeople.

8. Dispute Process
If something goes wrong: (1) Contact us at labourlinksupport@gmail.com with details and any photos or messages. (2) The tradesperson will be given an opportunity to respond. (3) LabourLink may pause payment release where applicable. (4) Refunds are handled case-by-case in line with consumer law and Stripe's rules. The tradesperson remains responsible for the work carried out.

9. Job Restrictions
At launch, LabourLink is suitable for small jobs only (gardening, handyman tasks, furniture assembly, painting touch-ups, cleaning, basic repairs). Gas work, major electrical work, roofing, structural work, bathroom/kitchen refits, work requiring building control, and emergency callouts are not currently supported. Maximum job value is £500 unless manually approved.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

1. What Data We Collect
When you use LabourLink we may collect your name, phone number, address, and details of jobs or bookings. Tradespeople also provide their trade, location, and service description. We do not store payment card details — these are handled entirely by Stripe.

2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to operate the LabourLink platform — to display tradesperson profiles, facilitate bookings, and enable in-app messaging. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.

3. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely in Supabase, a GDPR-compliant database provider. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data from unauthorised access.

4. Phone Numbers
Phone numbers provided by tradespeople are kept private and never displayed publicly. They are used solely for internal verification and direct contact where necessary.

5. Cookies
LabourLink uses browser localStorage to remember your conversations and preferences. We do not currently use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. Stripe may set cookies as part of their payment processing service.

6. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. Contact us at labourlinksupport@gmail.com.

1. Cancellations
Customers can request cancellation before work starts by contacting us at labourlinksupport@gmail.com. If the tradesperson has already started work or incurred costs, a full refund may not be available. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.

2. Refunds
Cancellations and refunds are handled in accordance with applicable UK consumer law, Stripe's payment process, and the status of the booking. Each case is assessed individually.

3. Disputes About Work
If you are dissatisfied with work carried out, contact us at labourlinksupport@gmail.com with details and any photos. The tradesperson will be given an opportunity to respond. LabourLink may assist communication but does not decide technical workmanship disputes. The tradesperson remains responsible for the work.

4. Tradesperson No-Show
In the rare event a tradesperson fails to attend without prior notice, contact us immediately. We will investigate and handle in accordance with consumer law.

5. Fraudulent Payments
If you believe a payment was made fraudulently, contact your bank or Stripe directly, and notify us at labourlinksupport@gmail.com immediately.

6. Statutory Rights
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

How it works:

1. Chat with a tradesperson and agree on the job.

2. Tradesperson sends a quote through the chat.

3. You see the tradesperson quote + Secure Escrow Protection clearly before paying.

4. Click Accept & Pay and enter your card details securely through Stripe.

5. Funds are held securely — the tradesperson does not receive the money yet.

6. Work is carried out.

7. Once happy, click "Mark Job as Complete" in the chat — funds are released to the tradesperson. If you do nothing, funds are automatically released after 7 days.

Why we charge a Secure Escrow Protection:
The Secure Escrow Protection covers secure payment processing, in-app messaging, booking management, and customer support. The tradesperson always receives their full quoted amount.
